UNU-GCM is pleased to be participating in the second United Nations High Level Dialogue (HLD) on Migration and Development in New York. The General Assembly Meetings and associated Interactive Round Tables are scheduled to occur on 3rd and 4th October 2013, but preparations and surrounding events have been taking place since the first HLD on Migration and Development in 2006. The intention of the 2013 event is to examine how to enhance ‘the benefits of international migration for migrants and countries alike and its important links to development, while reducing its negative implications’ (UNDESA website). Moving on from the 2006 HLD, time has also been allotted to examine the question of Human Rights, and the protection of particularly vulnerable migrants, such as women and children. UNU-GCM will be participating in the second Interactive Round Table, on the protection of human rights, particularly of vulnerable migrants. The prepared text will soon be available online.
