Professor Samir Amin speaks on Globalization, Lumpen Development and Stateless Migration

    UNU-GCM had the privilege of welcoming Professor Samir Amin to the Institute on 20th February 2014. Professor Amin held a workshop with UNU-GCM researchers during which he shared his critiques of development as currently practiced in the capitalist world order and offered his ideas on humanistic alternatives to this model of development. He also shared his experiences as Director of the Third World Forum on connecting academic, policy and civil society circles. In the evening, Professor Amin gave an engaging and stimulating public lecture on ‘Globalization, Lumpen Development and Stateless Migration’ to a large and diverse audience. Professor Amin highlighted how migration offers an important way through which to critically analyze actually existing capitalism and globalization.
