Event
  • DATE / TIME:
    2013•02•25
    Location:
    Barcelona, Spain

This workshop brought together researchers currently working on migration and interethnic relations in Catalonia from different disciplinary fields (including politics, international relations, sociology, anthropology, human geography, economics and law), to grapple with migration issues in an inter-disciplinary environment. The integrated approach developed covered the complexity of the phenomena from different angles and considered its consequences in terms of cultural impact on host societies.

The objectives of this preliminary meeting were: first, to ascertain what the main scientific achievements in the field of migration are; second, to establish which connections exist between the different disciplines; and finally to examine whether new assumptions and theories can be developed from the interconnections of different disciplinary approaches.

Outputs from this workshop will be published on the website of the UNU Institute in Barcelona as working papers.

The workshop was held in the Sant Manuel Pavillon on the 26th and 27th February and involved participants from different Catalan Universities, including: the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universitat Rovira I Virgili de Tarragona, Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals.
