UNU-GCM is pleased to invite you to a research seminar by Dr. Stelios Stavridis (ARAID Senior Research Fellow, Research Unit on European & International Studies, University of Zaragoza and Honorary Associate Research Fellow at UNU-GCM), to be held on Wednesday, January 28th 2015 at 16:00h.
Since the mid-2000s, the emerging principle of Responsibility to Protect (R2P) has been challenging the 1945 UN principles of national sovereignty and non-interference in domestic affairs, as well as the inviolability of borders. This seminar will present the reasons why this is happening, as well as offer a preliminary assessment of the application of this principle to date. As illustrations, it will take the recent and current conflicts in Libya and Syria.
Please RSVP by emailing franzil@unu.edu no later than 18:00h on Monday, January 26th 2015. Kindly provide your full name and ID details so that we can prepare your visitor pass.
