UNU-GCM is pleased to invite you to a research seminar by Dr. Stelios Stavridis (ARAID Senior Research Fellow, Research Unit on European & International Studies, University of Zaragoza and Honorary Associate Research Fellow at UNU-GCM), to be held on Wednesday, January 28th 2015 at 16:00h.

The Impact of R2P on Sovereignty

Since the mid-2000s, the emerging principle of Responsibility to Protect (R2P) has been challenging the 1945 UN principles of national sovereignty and non-interference in domestic affairs, as well as the inviolability of borders. This seminar will present the reasons why this is happening, as well as offer a preliminary assessment of the application of this principle to date. As illustrations, it will take the recent and current conflicts in Libya and Syria.

Please RSVP by emailing no later than 18:00h on Monday, January 26th 2015. Kindly provide your full name and ID details so that we can prepare your visitor pass.
