Born in Cairo, Professor Amin is an economist and a leading thinker on development. He is the author of over thirty books and has lectured widely. His work focuses on the links between imperialism, capitalism and globalization and aims to advocate an alternative social development. He is the President of the Third World Forum, based in Dakar, Senegal.

In this lecture, Professor Amin will explore the links between lumpen development, understood as social disintegration resulting from development as currently practised, and stateless migration.
