The International Migration, Integration And Social Cohesion (IMISCOE) network is holding its 15th Annual Conference in Barcelona on the 2nd to the 4th July.

The conference covers the theme Europe, Migrations and the Mediterranean: human mobilities and intercultural challenges and is organized by the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Immigration at the department of political and social sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (GRITM-UPF) in Barcelona.

The United Nations University Institute on Globalization, Culture and Mobility (UNU-GCM) is honored to be collaborating with IMISCOE and GRITIM-UPF by hosting the keynote speaker, Rainer Bauböck, Professor of Social and Political Theory at the European University Institute.

In the keynote lecture, Professor Bauböck will explore the moral and political conundrums that result from indiscriminate migrant policies in the Mediterranean and debate a long-term perspective towards free movement. He will be introduced by UNU-GCM’s Director, Professor Parvati Nair.

A presentation of the UNU-GCM’s latest research projects, objectives and achievements is taking place at a lunchtime side event, with all IMISCOE conference delegates invited to join.

Dr. Valeria Bello, Senior Research Fellow at the UNU-GCM, is due to make three panel appearances, where she will be discussing how prejudice affects immigrants’ inclusion and integration, latest methodological trends in qualitative and conceptual research and, lastly, her current project, a qualitative comparative study of migrant reception centers in Italy.
